The easternmost lake in the Czech part of Šumava mountains, situated below mountain Plechý, their highest peak. The lake is of glacial origin and is elliptical in shape. It is situated at a height of 1090 metres, covers an area of 7,48 ha and is 18,3 metres deep, about 260 metres long and 90 metres wide. From the 220 metres high rock wall there is a fine view of the whole lake and the mountain landscape surrounding it. The slope below the lake is covered with the enourmous boulders of the stone sea.
